An EV charging station is an equipment connecting an electric vehicle to a source of electricity to charge an electric car. Electric vehicle charging stations, also known as electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) can find in public parking locations and at shopping centers. Electric cars are a good way of saving money and decreasing the pollution caused by petrol cars. There are two ways to charge your EV car: at home or in a commercial center with public charging stations. Usually, electric cars come with their own plug-in. But in case you need a faster charger, you should get a home EV charging station. Its cost depends on your home location, the station you purchase. The average cost of a charging station is from USD 850 to USD 2,000

Generally, electricians install the charging stations. You will pay from USD 50 to USD 100 an hour on average for their work. If you choose additional wall-mounted chargers, you will pay from USD 300 to USD 600 more for the EV charger installation. So, you will spend about half of the total cost for the charging station installation process. 

EV Charging Station Types

There are three types of charging stations. Most cars usually come with the first type of charging station included. It will take about 24 hours to charge your car with this solar EV charger. So, it is a good version when driving short distances. The first type uses a 120 volt (V), alternating-current (AC) plug and requires a dedicated circuit. They offer about 5 miles of range for every hour of charging. 

The second type of charging station charges batteries faster just in a few hours. It is considered to be the best EV charger. The second type of EV chargers can be mounted on the wall or portable. They have wifi and other additional features. The price is from USD 300 to USD 1,200. Type two stations charge through a 240V, AC plug. They need home charging or public charging equipment to be installed. These stations offer 10 to 20 miles of range for every hour of charging. 

The last type of EV chargers is designed for commercial use. The third type of charging station, also called DC fast chargers, uses a 480V, direct-current (DC) plug. They provide up to 40 miles of range for every 10 minutes of charging. These stations charge vary fast and many vehicles at the same time. It will cost you from USD 12,000 to USD 35,000 for the system. 

How To Choose The Appropriate Charging Station

Today, with the development of solar energy, and the rising number of electric vehicles and public charging stations throughout the United States, it has become easier to drive long distances in an electric car. The EV infrastructure and end-customer solutions are working to keep up.

EV Charging Stations In Los Angeles

Public charging stations are usually owned or operated by private charging companies, utilities, and the local government.

You can find many electric vehicles charging stations in sunny California state. In many cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles more than 20,000 charging stations are installed. The most number of charging stations, about 2,000 stations, are located in Los Angeles. 

California is also the leader in the number of Tesla Superchargers in the United States. In Los Angeles, you can find 10 Tesla Superchargers and more than 50 Tesla Destination chargers.
